Some autonomous communities (regions) in Spain offer free insurance with COVID-19 coverage to travelers staying in regulated tourist establishments. All cultural attractions and institutions are free to decide what measures they keep in place in their facilities. Fortunately, attractions such as museums, monuments and parks are open and sightseeing tours are operating in Spain right now. The number of foreign tourists visiting Spain has more than quadrupled in September from a year ago to almost 4.7 million, data from the National Statistics Office show, as widespread vaccination and looser travel restrictions attracted more visitors.
Maroto cited Spain's natural tourist attractions and its high level of vaccination, around 80% of the population, as driving forces for recovery. Several municipalities have police units dedicated to foreign tourists (SATE) and offer services in English and other languages. Attractions will have capacity limits, so be sure to check if you need to book your tickets in advance. Museums, concert halls, cinemas and major attractions have largely reopened across the country, but capacity and hours may remain limited, so visitors should be prepared to book timed tickets at the most popular sites.
